Will there be a third season of Darker Than Black?
Season 3 of Darker Than Black is unlikely to happen. Bones would have done a third season of this show a long time ago if they wanted to. After 12 years, there’s no point in making a third season of Darker Than Black. There are far too many issues with the series to justify a third season without a total reboot.
The main issue is that this franchise is way past its prime. The fanbase has moved on by 2021, and the first two seasons appear to be quite terrible in comparison to today’s anime. So, if this anime gets any farther, it will almost definitely be a complete relaunch of the entire series.
That, on the other hand, is unlikely to occur. Tensai Okamura, the series’ original director and creator, has departed Bones. Darker Than Black’s third season or reboot would have a totally new studio, cast, and crew. I don’t think it’s worth it because the series was never a big hit, and there’s no guarantee that a new version will do well.

There is no official release date for Darker Than Black Season 3 because the third season was never confirmed, canceled, or announced, so there is no countdown, and a release date is highly unlikely to be released because a third season will almost certainly never happen.
I wish I could claim that there is still a hope for a new season and a release date for this show. More Darker Than Black isn’t impossible because it sold well and was popular, but it’s extremely improbable to happen after such a long time.

Many anime fans would be ecstatic if a third season of Darker Than Black was announced, but it’s unlikely to happen. I feel there is still a slim potential that this series may be rebooted, but it is a very small chance (less than 5%).
