Citrus Season 2 has yet to be formally announced, therefore no release date for the second season of this anime has been set, but the question is whether there will be one and when it will be published.
Here’s everything we know so far about whether or not a new season of Citrus will be released, as well as when it will be published.
Citrus, also known as in Japanese, is an anime series based on a popular yuri manga of the same name that was first published in 2013. Saburouta is the author and illustrator of the Citrus manga series.
Citrus is a popular romance yuri anime series with drama elements that follows Yuzu Aihara, who has been forced to transfer to a new school. This is a new chance for a fashionable socialite like Yuzu to fall in love and ultimately experience her first kiss.
Citrus, an anime television series created by Takeo Takahashi and animated by Studio Passione, has only had one season thus far. There’s no indication yet on whether the studio or the filmmaker will return for Citrus Season 2.
In January 2018, the first 12-episode Citrus television anime series began in Japan. Since then, the series has gained a considerable fan audience that are still waiting for Citrus Season 2 Episode 1 or a sequel.
Is there going to be a second season of Citrus?
Season 2 of Citrus is almost probably not going to happen. Because yuri series don’t sell well, there aren’t many anime adaptations of them. Citrus was not an exception, as the anime adaption was not financially successful. As a result, a second season will not be produced.
Citrus was a financially unsuccessful anime. Citrus Blu-Ray sales average roughly 1,100 copies, which is a low number, and the series has absolutely no marketing or figures. Also, the manga isn’t doing well, so I don’t think Citrus season 2 will be a success.
Regrettably, there is still plenty of content to modify for a new season. In Japan, there are ten volumes available, but only four have been converted so far. One to two further seasons could be created based on current information, but a sequel to this series has a near 0% chance of happening.
Release Date for Citrus Season 2
There is no official Citrus Season 2 release date because a second season was never confirmed, canceled, or announced, so there is no countdown, and a release date is unlikely to be given because a second season will almost certainly never be released.
I just wanted to point out that there’s still a potential that this show may get a new season and a release date. However, after examining sales and the success of the sequel manga Citrus Plus, I believe the chances of a 2021 release are little to none. Nothing about this show seems profitable enough to warrant a second season.
If there is any news or a release date for a new Citrus anime project on the Citrus official Twitter account, we will update this site. If you’ve lost up hope for a new Citrus season, you can start reading the manga from volume 5 because the anime only covered volumes 1 through 4.
Where Can Citrus Be Seen?
The Citrus anime series is available on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and even Amazon Prime Video. It is currently unavailable on Netflix or Hulu in the United States.
There is no trailer for Citrus Season 2 or Season 3 yet, but we will update this page as soon as one becomes available. If you haven’t watched the first season trailer yet, you may watch it here.
